/// OPERATIVE NOTES ///
This one acre pilot project is designed to test the effectiveness of a unique combination of integrated water management strategies. They include: a wildlife / irrigation pond with barn roof water catchment, myco-filtration swales, multi-functional shelterbelts, sinuous channels overflows and silt traps. These strategies are designed to help improve year-round water storage, infiltration and nutrient retention on the farm, while putting these resources to productive use. Hatchet & Seed has been working with White House Stables on this project, which is proudly support by the Capital Region District's Integrated Watershed Management, Parks & Environmental Services. The goal is to design and facillitate the installation of a 1 acre, Regenerative Agriculture Pilot Project. The project involves a multi-functional swale, bio-filter & tree cropping system that will:- slow down nutrient runoff and improve water infiltration into the soil- reduce nutrient leaching into and out of the existing pond- increase water catchment into pond- yield nutrient dense fruits & nuts- create contoured silvo-pasture alleyways for pigs, chickens & cows- provide shade for animals and soil cooling [FLAG: No source URL — manual verification required]
